Good Things Happening...

What a beautiful weekend for a birthday at the river!! Vicki's birthday was this weekend, and we had a great time celebrating. Lauren was in charge of the cake, and she came through with flying colors--guess what shape? Just guess---flip flops!! Cute as a button, let me tell you! We had a small hiccup--somehow Lauren and the cake maker failed to discuss flavor, so what was supposed to be a yummy chocolate cake with chocolate icing turned out to be a to-die-for yellow cake with chocolate icing -- get this--complete with vanilla wafer "sand" and fondant starfish and sea shells. Awesome...just awesome!

Grace and Carsyn played so well. We put the little pool out and let Carsyn get in. Goodness, we have GOT to get rid of that diaper rash! So, we cheated a bit (we put warm water from the house in and cooled it down a bit with the water hose.) She had a ball! She didn't take a nap all day, but she had a ball. Lauren is becoming a pro at timing...just as they were preparing to leave, Carsyn was OUT like a light. Robbie and I stayed for the night. Grace had not slept all day either, and after supper she was gone...out...sawing logs. Cutest thing she said...
Grace: ZiZi, where are you going to sleep?
Me: In the room with PopPop.
Grace: Why don't y'all move your stuff in my room and let Mama and Daddy sleep back there?
Me: Everybody's stuff is already in place. Why would we move it?
Grace: When I wake up, I just want to be looking at you!

How sweet is that?

After we got everything packed up and cleaned up Sunday, we were on our way home. We got a bite to eat and stopped to check on a tire for Josh's boat trailer. Josh came back to the house to help clean fish -- 25 catfish! I headed to the den of stitches for some thread therapy. Casey was not far behind, and we were cruising...4 minky dot dresses in record time. While I was looking up some sewing stuff on the computer, I found my mission. I am SOOOOO excited! I was looking up the arm depth for pillowcase dresses, and I ran across this link. I can absolutely do this!! And I'll take all the help I can get! These little dresses can be made with pillowcases or a yard of fabric. How easy is that??? I'm going to be on the lookout for fabric and/or pillowcases to use. Want to help? Let me know. A roll or ribbon, a yard of fabric, a pillowcase...any of these can be used to make a little girl happy. I'm also going to do the britches for boys...making little shorts so the little boys won't be left out. Ahhhh...I can't wait to get started!!!
